Cuban Film Night

we have got ourselves organised for 3 film nights, see the leaflet attached for the spring ’24 programme, all at Friends of the Earth ,

The first of 3 is on

Friday 1st March 6.30pm, as ever – free / donation

Showing : ‘Habanastation’

Habanastation is a 2011 Cuban drama film, directed by Ian Padron, and starring Claudia Alvariňo Diaz.  Filmed in a poor barrio in western Havana, the film addresses inequalities in Cuba, through the relationship between two children of different social strata. The legacy of 500 years of colonialism is not easily reversed even after 50 years of Revolution.

There will also be a public meeting (venue still to be confirmed) on Tuesday 12th March, probably 7pm  – Jo Allen (NEU – Teachers’ Union) will be reporting back on her recent NEU delegation to visit Cuba and see Cuban education up close! All welcome of course, exact details to follow when we have them.

Hope to see you at the film screening if you can make it
