Cuban visitor

We are delighted to be hosting a public meeting with a visitor from Cuba, Lissette Rubio Mederos :

Thursday 8th June from 7pm – 9pm at the Son Caney Cuban Bar, 230 Fazeley Street B5 5SE – Birmingham City Centre

Free / donation

Lissette is a professor at the University of Pedagogical Sciences in Havana and represents the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) and the Cuban Teachers Union (SNTECD). She will be speaking on the Blockade and the impact on Cuban education. She can also speak on the new Family Code and gender equality in Cuba. Lissette speaks excellent English. It will be a chance to hear about the value of the ‘Viva La Educacion’ fundraising efforts from the Cuban perspective.

A leaflet for the event is attached, do send on to your networks if you can – many thanks

We do hope you can make it! There will be Cuban foods and drinks available from the bar, and if dancing is your scene, you can stay around at the Son Caney for Birmingham’s most authentic Latin American dance night (it is pretty lively from around 9.30/10pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening.)
